In an effort to offer caregivers of someone with memory loss excellent, hands-on, interactive training that will improve skills and empower them in their role, the Hawaii Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative is presenting this workshop series featuring Dorothy Colby, a Certified Positive Approach to Dementia Care™ Trainer.

The workshops will be held from April-October, 2017. Please click here for details and registration. There are six workshops on different topics. We hope that having workshops in Kahala makes it more convenient to attend for you or a dementia caregiver you know. It’s possible to attend just one, several, or all of the workshops.

These Positive Approach to Care™ seminars or workshops were developed by dementia advocate and occupational therapist Teepa Snow and provide essential information for families and care partners on how to have a positive and meaningful relationship with loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia throughout their journey.

This series is especially valuable for family caregivers and friends of someone with memory loss who do the day to day care and want to learn many effective and beneficial tools and tips for improving communication, helping with challenging behaviors, dining, how dementia progresses, what is normal and not normal aging, and providing care in the final stages of dementia.
Parking instructions will be given to registrants. Refreshments provided. No CEUs available.
